D:BLW Second Test – A Reality Check

The second test of the D:BLW chassis took place near Anyangsa, a well-known hiking spot in the Gyeonggi region — practically right in my backyard.
Unlike the first solo run, this session was more meaningful, as I had the chance to compare the performance directly with my previous builds and those of fellow crawlers.

A Calm Before the Climb

While waiting for the group to arrive, I grabbed a quick shot of the rig.
This time, the test wasn’t just about trail performance — it was also a stress test for the durability of key 3D printed parts under tough conditions.

And the Result... Hmm...

Let’s just say I might have trusted PC filament a bit too much.

The servo mount and upper riser mount both took damage — something I had low-key anticipated during the design phase, but seeing it actually happen still hit hard.
That said, design revisions have already been made to strengthen these weak points.

On-Track but Not Impressive

The overall driving performance wasn’t terrible, but honestly, it didn’t live up to expectations.
Rather than trying to tweak things here and there, I decided to take a step back and start from scratch.

Key Takeaways

  • Dropping the 4WS setup to reduce weight
  • Switching to 2WS configuration
  • Rear upper riser will be redesigned accordingly

Failure isn’t the end — it’s just feedback.
Back to the drawing board. A lighter, stronger D:BLW is coming soon.
